Strings

Strings are typically instruments that are played in an orchestra setting.  Guitar and piano are excluded from this category:

  • Violin
  • Viola
  • Cello
  • Double (or upright) Bass
  • Harp

 Students who want to master a string instrument will find private in-home lessons are a great way to increase their interest and skill. Lesson curriculum is based on discussions with student in order to determine goals and interests. The teacher integrates lessons and orchestral music where applicable.

What you need:

  • Music stand
  • Tuner: Part of playing a string instrument is knowing how to keep your instrument in tune
  • Shoulder rest: for violin and viola
  • Rosin: For instruments played with a bow
  • Lesson books: Your teacher will advise what lesson books to purchase. Choice of books varies by teacher and the needs and goals of each student.
