Brass

There are two families of brass instruments:

• Valved: Trumpet, French Horn, Euphonium/Baritone, and Tuba.  Also included in this family are Cornet, Flugelhorn, Mellophone, and Sousaphone.
• Slide: Trombone (although there are some trombones that are valved).

Students who want to master their instrument will find private in-home brass lessons are a great way to increase a  student’s interest and skill.   Lesson curriculum is based on student goals and interests. Teachers are encouraged to integrate in-home lesson materials with the school band curriculum.

What you need:

• Music stand
• Assignment book: Used to record your new assignments each week (optional by teacher).
• Lesson books: Your teacher will advise what lesson books to purchase.  Choice of books varies by instructor and the needs and goals of each student.
• Soft cloth and valve oil
