Steve A

Steve started playing piano at the age of six, beginning his studies with a focus on classical music.  Eventually, he would approach the acoustic and electric guitar to learn styles such as fingerstyle and contemporary rock.  Steve soon began playing in several rock and progressive rock bands and teaching informally.

He is currently taking performance courses at McNally Smith College of Music and working towards the Associate in Applied Science in Music degree.  Steve has gained the knowledge to teach a wide variety of styles including, but not limited to, classical and fingerstyle acoustic, classic rock, jazz, and funk.  He also has a firm understanding of music theory and incorporates this with different methods of teaching.

Steve’s belief is that every student learns in different ways and it is the teacher’s responsibility to cater to each student’s method of learning.  He has not forgotten that learning to play an instrument can be difficult, but playing music can and should be an enjoyable experience.
