Khrystenn
Khrystenn began her musical career at the age of 5 with piano, oboe, and voice lessons. While continuing to take her private classical piano lessons, Khrystenn joined her school band as an oboe player and remained a choir member throughout her middle and high school years. While studying under various instructors in the Twin Cities area, Khrystenn was also a 1st Soprano member of the prestigious Edina Varsity Choir in high school, performing in several choral concerts over the years.
Khrystenn is a graduate of the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN with a dual Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Middle Eastern Studies, as well as a dual minor in International Studies and Philosophy. While at St. Thomas, she was on the Dean’s List, received numerous scholarships and awards, studied at over six prestigious worldwide academic institutions, founded and revived two organizations, and held over ten executive positions and four memberships in various other on-campus organizations and clubs.
Earlier in her musical career, Khrystenn chose to audition for music and dance at the Perpich Center for Arts Education. Khrystenn attended the school for dance studying ballet, modern dance, improvisation, and composition training, while also training at Minnesota Dance Theatre and The Dance Institute in classical ballet, pointe, and contemporary dance styles. Khrystenn is an accomplished figure skater and continues her athletic pursuits through competitive ice dance and fitness instruction at local community centers.
Khrystenn background in acting performance and improvisational training includes working with individuals of all ages, assisting in theatrical, piano, voice, fitness, and language instruction. Khrystenn theatrical training specializes in musical theatre, allowing her to participate in several performances including Schools on Stage at the Guthrie and other on-campus shows acting as Stage Manager for productions at the University of St.Thomas’ Foley Theatre and the College of St. Catherine’s Frey Theatre. Khrystenn also has an extensive background in improvisation training through course programs such as the Youth Performance Company and ComedySportz.
Khrystenn’s ambitious personality combined with her multi-talented profile is hard to come by and is exuded through her passion for teaching the splendors of music. Khrystenn utilizes a traditional approach that is both unique and catered towards the student’s specific abilities and goals. Khrystenn is committed to teaching excellence in piano, voice, and musical theatre from beginning to advanced levels.
In her spare time, Khrystenn enjoys theatre, reading, syllogistic logic, volunteering, world politics, U.S. Foreign Policy, cryptology, cleaning, spending time with her family, studying world geography, reading The Economist, and listening to classical music.
