Julie

If you’re interested in learning how to sing, play piano, rock on the guitar, explore woodwinds or other string instruments, Julie is the teacher for you!  She believes in cultivating an environment of trust, fun and experiential learning geared toward meeting developed goals.

Julie has over ten years of experience in completing assessments for music therapy, planning and leading both private and group music-therapy sessions and private and group music lessons.  With her Bachelor of Music in Clarinet Performance (with minors in voice, piano and guitar) and her Bachelor of Science in Music Therapy (with minors in psychology and religion) from Augsburg College.  She is currently working toward a Performance Certificate from McPhail Center for Music and a Masters degree in Clinical Social Work from University of St Thomas.  In addition to being a private lesson teacher, Julie is a board certified music therapist and early childhood music teacher.

Music helps improve many skills, including communication, academics, motor, emotional and social.  With Julie, you can sing the songs of your favorite pop singer, prepare for an audition, work on songs for your rock band or church choir or improve your instrumental skills for band/orchestra.  She has experience with students of multiple ages including very young students and adults.  Students with special needs are encouraged to work with Julie, as well as families with students interested in music therapy, composition, theory, music history and improvisation.
