Cole
Cole began playing piano at age seven. He studied various piano methods for 10 years with his private instructor, Christine Bjorklund. Under her teaching, he learned various improvisational techniques as well classical piano. Cole started learning guitar as well with his teacher, Martin Hinrichs. He has taken five years of guitar lessons in addition to piano.
Eight years into his private studies, Cole got a job playing piano professionally for Saint John the Baptist Church in Hugo, MN, where he still plays piano today. After one year of working with the community of Saint John the Baptist, Cole started teaching piano informally to children and adults alike in the area. He has worked closely with the choir, with music instruction among the foci. In addition to playing piano, Cole does vocal work with the various choir groups from Saint John the Baptist. Cole has been acknowledged by other churches in the metro area for his distinguished piano and vocal work and has played piano and sang professionally for wedding services and funeral services at churches throughout Minnesota.
Cole has worked with people of varying experience in music, and always can make learning an enjoyable experience whether it’s a one-on-one basis with a student, or through group work. He approaches his work with a student in a goal-oriented way that can also be fun for the student, letting them explore various genres that can pertain to a lesson. Because of his variety of talents, Cole can play guitar or sing with the student playing piano, helping them get a feel for playing in a band/orchestra and overall making them a versatile musician.
