Ann
Ann began playing piano when she was five years old. She studied under various instructors through her 13 years of classical instruction. While studying in high school, Ann participated and won several local and regional competitions in both piano and organ performance, advancing to the MMTA state level of competition.
After high school, Ann attended St. Olaf College, where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education, with a double concentration in both instrumental and vocal education. Ann is certified to teach K-12 music. While in college she studied piano with Dr. Kenneth Graber, organ with Robert Kendall, voice with Alice Larson and flute with Cynthia Stokes. Ann played in the St. Olaf Band and sang in the Chapel Choir, and also played in the flute choir at St. Olaf.
Upon graduating from St. Olaf College, Ann became an elementary vocal music teacher in Stewartville, MN. While there, Ann also accompanied the broadway revue group “Special Delivery” for three years and performed on both piano and flute in the pit orchestras at Rochester Civic Theatre. For one production, Ann even sang in a “pit choir!”
Since being a teacher in Stewartville, Ann has done extensive teaching privately both in her home and in several studios. She has also gained many years of experience as a church organist, church pianist and church choir director. Ann enjoys teaching students of all ages and of many different levels. Ann enjoys getting to know her students and designing programs of learning that are specific to their learning goals, their gifts and their learning styles.
